Eric Walker – A Level 1 Certified CrossFit Trainer has been involved in some kind of athletic endeavor as long as he can remember, whether it be: football in high school and college, track, or martial arts. In the course of his martial arts journey, from traditional martial arts to present day in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he has always looked for new ways to be in peak condition. In 2002 he discovered CrossFit. He began to slowly integrate CrossFit into his training but never fully committed to the program. It was always in the back of his mind though and he knew that eventually he would “drink the kool-aid.” Well that day happened. Eric got initiated into CrossFit with a “little” workout that involved an AMRAP of sumo dead lift high pulls, burpees, and wall balls. 20 minutes later, while lying flat on his back wondering what the F$%# just happened, he was a believer. Needless to say he never looked back.
“I have always been interested in coaching and training. For the past 15 years I was a police officer and still hold many instructor certifications. I always gravitated towards helping people to improve and coaching them in one-way or another. I’ve coached football for the past two years and really emphasized the strength and conditioning aspects while coaching. Over the years I discovered that nothing gives me more satisfaction than to see people improve, both physically and mentally.”
Recently, Eric had the opportunity to buy and operate a CrossFit Box. Along with his wife, Ashley, they decided to “go for it” and dive in headfirst. They haven’t looked back. “Every morning when I wake up at 5:00 am and take that drive to the gym to open up for my morning athletes, I have the biggest smile on my face, because I know I’m going to improve somebody’s life through this incredible method of fitness.”
